The country that
rebuilt itself
in one lifetime.

Seventy years ago Seoul was rubble. Today it exports the phone in your pocket, the show your students binge and the choreography they practise in the school corridor. Six days on how that actually happened — and a dance class that proves it.

the shortest trip on our list. the loudest one on the flight home.

5 NIGHTS / 6 DAYS
South Korea: Educational & Cultural Experience
six days, one very steep learning curve

Korea is the shortest programme we run and the one students refuse to stop talking about. It moves fast — innovation museum, exchange day, calligraphy, palace, river cruise, theme park — because the country does too.

DAY 1
SEOUL
Arrival, and the first taste of a designed country

Land in Seoul and go straight to Hyundai Premium Outlet — not for the shopping, though that happens, but because it is the first thing students notice about Korea: everything is designed. Signage, escalators, the queue for coffee. Hotel check-in, and lights out early, because tomorrow starts with Samsung.

DAY 2
SEOUL
How a nation out-engineered its own history

The Samsung Innovation Museum walks students from the first telegraph to the semiconductor, and somewhere in the middle it stops being a museum and becomes a case study: a country with no oil, no coal and no time decided to sell brains instead. Then the mood flips — a K-pop culture session, followed by a professional dance studio class where teachers are strongly encouraged to join in.

DAY 3
SEOUL
Exchange day, brush strokes and a shark

A Korean school opens up for the morning: classrooms, canteen trays, a buddy each, and the discovery that Korean students study later into the night than anyone in the group. Afternoon slows right down for traditional calligraphy — ink, posture, patience — before COEX Aquarium, where the calm lasts until somebody spots the sharks.

DAY 4
SEOUL
Hanbok, hanok, and the river at night

A royal palace first, then hanbok — twenty students in traditional dress, walking the same courtyards, taking the best photographs of their lives. Bukchon Hanok Village’s tiled lanes follow, then N Seoul Tower for the city from above. The day closes on a Han River cruise with the skyline switching on around them.

DAY 5
SEOUL
Lotte World, and the last of the won

A full day at Lotte World — indoor and outdoor, rides negotiated in teams, meeting points every two hours. Then Lotte’s shopping complex, where the remaining budget goes on gifts, snacks and one inexplicable purchase per student.

DAY 6
DEPARTURE
Departure, choreography intact

Transfer to the airport. Somewhere near the gate, four of them will run the dance routine one more time, properly this time, and the rest of the group will film it. That video plays at assembly.

WHAT COMES HOME

Ambition, learned by example.

Students arrive thinking Korea means music and leave understanding it means engineering, discipline and a national decision to be excellent at something. Also: they can now do the choreography properly.

“they rebuilt a whole country. we can fix our street.”
